Answer:
Water Filter Icon
Water filters are ready to be replaced whenever the replacement indicator appears in the display, or after approximately one year.
- The water filter indicator appears in the control panel display as four drops of water passing through a horizontal sheet of paper.
- On Classic models, the icon appears between the temperatures:
Purchase Water Filter
- Replacement water filters are available for purchase through Sub-Zero’s Accessory Store or through a Factory Certified Parts Distributor by calling them directly.
- The product serial number is required to select the right replacement water filter for your product in the Sub-Zero Accessory Store.
- Use Sub-Zero Serial Tag Locations for help finding the serial number.
- To determine the right water filter for a product, use the search feature in the Sub-Zero Accessory Store.
- Refer to Water Filter Part Numbers to compare the part number of an existing water filter to available replacements.
Replace Water Filter
Note: Not all Sub-Zero products include a water filtration system.
- There is no water filter in 200/300, 500, 600, or 700 Series models, nor in Undercounter or Designer Drawer products and some ice makers. For a complete list, refer to Sub-Zero Does Not Have a Water Filter.
After replacing the filter:
- The first several glasses of water should be discarded.
- The first two full containers of ice should be discarded.
Replacing a water filter varies by filter type and model. Refer to the instructions below for product-specific replacement instructions:

Reset Water Filter Indicator
Resetting the filter varies by product. Refer to the instructions below for product-specific reset instructions:
- Classic Series (CL) Reset Water Filter
- Classic Series (BI) Reset Water Filter
- Designer Series (DET, DEC) Reset Water Filter
- Legacy Designer Series (IT, IC) Reset Water Filter
- Undercounter Ice Maker UC-15I Reset Water Filter
- Sub-Zero Group Owner's App Refrigeration Alerts and Notifications
- The 648PRO Series Water Filter Life automatically resets once the filter cartridge has been replaced.
Reset Water Filter in Mobile App
- The water filter cannot be reset through the mobile app.
- Filter life must first be reset on the appliance according to instructions above.
