Induction Cooktop Bridge

Topics:

  • When was the bridge added to the Wolf Induction Cooktop?
  • How to use the bridge element for the IR Induction Range
  • What elements are in use when the bridge element is turned on?
  • How to turn off the bridge element

Answer:

Bridge Elements

24", 30", and 36" models of Induction Cooktops and Rangetops feature Bridge Elements.

Bridge elements activate adjoining elements together to provide a larger cooking area when in use.

  • The bridge element provides an oblong heating area for use with a griddle, open roaster, or fish poacher.
  • Use a vertical bridge (24", 30", and 36" models) or side-to-side bridge (36" models only) to achieve even heat across the cooking surface.

All Bridge Feature

Only older model 36" Induction Cooktops and Rangetops (CI365, IR365) have an All Bridge Feature, allowing all four 8" circular elements to activate together.

  • All Bridge should be used only for cookware larger than 12" in diameter.
    • Cookware smaller than 12" in diameter will not work well.  The bridge does not produce an even heat, and may turn off if the cookware is not sensed by one of the generators.
    • When using cookware smaller than 12" in diameter, use the right rear element for best results.
  • There are no elements between the burners. When using All Bridge, each hob will be a “hot spot,” and on each hob, the four coils will heat slightly differently.
    • If using the bridge zone between two burners only, heat is more evenly distributed. The cookware will not have the hot spots that the All Bridge feature has.

Newer models CI36560 and IR36550, which have square burners, do not include an All Bridge feature.

To Use Bridge Elements:

  1. Select the desired power level on one of the single elements.
  2. Touch Bridge between corresponding element controls to bridge elements front to back, BRG to bridge elements side to side, or All Bridge (36" Induction Cooktops and 36" Induction Ranges only) to bridge all elements.
  3. To change the power level, adjust the power level on any active bridged element.
    • If a horizontal or vertical bridge is turned on while another bridge is active, the bridge that was already on will turn off.
  4. To turn off, touch On/Off on any active bridged element.
