Use the following chart for definitions to common terms used for connecting appliances to the Sub-Zero Group Owner's App.
- The unit must be connected to the home Wi-Fi in order to use the Owner's App and the connected features.
- The unit does not need to be connected to Wi-Fi if the Owner's App will not be used.
Term | Definition |
Cloud Service | Passes data over the internet from the appliance to Sub-Zero Group, Inc. |
Connect Capable | An appliance that when retrofitted with a combination of a new control board, a connected module, and new software, can connect to the Sub-Zero Group Owner's App to control some functions of the product. |
Connect Ready | An appliance manufactured ready to connect to the Sub-Zero Group Owner's App to control some functions of the product. See also, Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove Connected Ready Appliances. |
Connected | An appliance connected by wireless Internet connection via Bluetooth technology that connects the appliance to Sub-Zero servers in the cloud to transmit data back to Sub-Zero for service and diagnostic assistance. |
Connected Module |

Connectivity Kit | The modification of an appliance to bring it up to standards required to connect the appliance. Typically a software update. Parts included in connectivity kits vary by product. |

Box that connects to the modem and allows multiple devices to use that Internet connection at the same time. It also lets the devices connect to each other. Can be wired, wireless, or both. | |
Service Set IDentifier (SSID) | A name assigned to a Wi-Fi or wireless network. Devices in the network use this name to communicate over Wi-Fi. Use a Web browser to manually change the SSID and password in the device's configuration settings. |
Wireless Access Point (WAP) | Attaches to a router and allows Wi-Fi connections to the network. |

Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) | Security standard for uses of computing devices equipped with wireless Internet connections. |
