Everything Isn’t Bigger in Texas
FINALIST, 2022-2023 KITCHEN DESIGN CONTEST
Small Kitchen Optimized for Tech-Industry Urbanites
This bite-size, two-bedroom residence targets a specific demographic: executives or small families seeking an appealing home in one of Texas’s fastest growing tech markets. But without a specific homeowner in mind, it was important to maximize versatility during the design phase. On a backdrop of modern aesthetics, functional storage and high-performing appliances create an extremely adaptable space.
VERSATILE DESIGN
The thoughtful, efficient design guarantees an appealing and versatile space for different types of people and situations, such as a young professional, a small family, or an out-of-town executive in need of a temporary home.
STORAGE AND FUNCTIONALITY
With space as a luxury, every inch counts. Highly functional cabinetry and storage with dedicated spaces for culinary tools support efficient and clutter-free cooking. Preserving the sleek wall of cabinets, the design cleverly tucks the Wolf Coffee System and cup storage behind a pocketing door.
COHESIVE AESTHETICS
The small space demanded and achieved cohesiveness through a simple palette of stone, steel, muted wood, and antique glass. Notably, the blackened steel surrounding the Wolf Wall Ovens and on the appliance door edges adds durability and consistency with other steel used throughout the design.
QUALITY SMALL-SPACE APPLIANCES
Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances were selected for their quality and size. These appliances not only ensured superior performance but also contributed significantly to the overall design by enhancing visual cohesiveness.
