A 1962 Home Evolves for a Blended Family
This renovation story begins with a rundown home from 1962, transformed into a modern luxury retreat for a newly blended family of five and their two dogs. The homeowners sought a stylish yet comfortable kitchen, prioritizing durability and minimal maintenance. The design not only modernized a dated kitchen but also crafted a space that meets the unique needs of a dynamic family, despite the kitchen’s small footprint.
Highlights from this kitchen
CREATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR A SMALL SPACE
Faced with a small kitchen footprint, the design team used custom cabinetry built to the ceiling's angle and integrated appliances to create the illusion of a larger space. This design ensured ample storage and an open, unified look in the kitchen and great room.
SEAMLESS INTEGRATION
Thanks to its paneled design and flush installation, Designer Series Sub-Zero Refrigeration helped bring to life the wall that seamlessly combines the kitchen cabinets, paneled appliances, custom wood passageway, and fireplace.
NATURAL LIGHT AND VIEWS
Maximizing the use of windows and glass doors throughout the home, the design captures gorgeous surroundings and provides easy access to the outdoors. The Wolf Induction Cooktop and Downdraft on the island help maintain a clean, modern aesthetic without obstructing the views.
EARTHY AND LUXURIOUS MATERIALS
The design team used luxurious yet earthy, neutral materials with pops of color and texture to create a cohesive, organic feel. This choice echoed the natural surroundings and added warmth and sophistication to the space.
HEALTH-CONSCIOUS COOKING
For the health-conscious homeowners, the Wolf E Series Transitional Single Oven and E Series Convection Steam Oven provide versatile cooking options, including the ability to cook with steam.
