Air Purification System Fan Noise
Topics:
- Does the air purification fan make noise?
- Is there a fan motor associated with the air purification cartridge?
- Does the "Pure Air" mode cause a fan motor to run?
- Air filtration system making a buzzing or humming noise
Answer:
The two main parts of the air purifier are a replaceable cartridge and a small fan below the cartridge.
- The fan drives the refrigerator compartment air through the cartridge.
- When activated, the UV light in the filter cartridge and the fan motor under the cartridge are energized 100% of the time, unless the refrigerator door is opened or the unit is in Showroom Mode.
If the fan noise seems excessive:
- Cycle the "Pure Air" mode off and back on. See Air Filter Operation for instructions and information.
- Replace the air purification cartridge.
- Refer to Sub-Zero Refrigerator or Freezer Noises.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, no further troubleshooting advice is available. Contact Factory Certified Service to schedule an appointment for repair.
