Product Use After Natural Disaster
Topics:
- Is it safe to use a product after a hurricane?
- Is it okay to use a Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove that was under water or in a home that flooded?
- If a unit was submersed in water, will it work?
- Flood or other storm damaged products
- Product submerged in water
Answer:
Submerged in Water
Customers with any product problems after a natural disaster are encouraged to have a factory certified service company inspect the damages first. If appliances have been submerged or partially-submerged in water, Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove suggest an inspection from a Factory Certified Servicer before turning them back on. Contact Factory Certified Service to schedule an appointment for repair.
Power Issues
Control boards can be damaged by voltage spikes, brown outs and if a generator does not have the proper filters. Products running in low voltage or brown out situations may experience unusual error codes. In this case, it is recommended to discontinue use until full power is restored. See Generator Considerations for more information.
Persistent Odors
Chronic odor circumstances are not covered under our product warranty. If food can no longer be stored in a Sub-Zero due to offensive odors after following manufacturer recommendations, have the owner contact their homeowner's insurance provider. See also, Odor Cleaning Recommendations.
